We've all pretty much made up our minds about Halloween-and they keep
changing. Some of us Christians still celebrate it, some of us hide
and turn off our lights. (There are many great websites that can help
you find where you should be - but not this one). This is a personal
choice and I'm not endorsing anything, I'm just giving you all the
choices you have out there.
In my family, we don't celebrate it and we don't turn off the lights.
First, we read kids books about the correlation of Christianity and Halloween. Some of them say "yea" and some say "nay". We can decide for ourselves.
We go to "Halloween Alternative" parties the weekend before Halloween and then on Halloween night, we give out Christian tracts to the kids who are trick-or-treating (you can get both the books and the tracts at the Family Christian Store). (Although *update* my son now volunteers at a Church on Halloween night as an outreach.) I let my kids dress up to give out the tracts if they want (they don't always choose to). No, I don't just give them tracts, I fill a little baggie full of candy and "gospel toys" from Oriental Trading and the tract, so that the kids can see that Christians are "cool". Yes, kind of sad, but my kids and I ARE cool.

Hot refreshments at Cherry Creek Mortgage (5690 Webster). $2 per child for all activities.
This year the event is dedicated to Justin Vicory, who owned The Wedding Seamstress and D'Lola Couture with his wife Dee Dee. Justin was very involved in the community and went all out for Trick or Treat Street. Justin recently lost his battle with melanoma and wanted to raise awareness of this disease. A portion of the proceeds will be dedicated to helping with his medical bills.
Volunteers are needed to help with the 1,000+ goblins expected to attend.
Bring the family to Olde Town Arvada for a safe and friendly night of trick-or-treating. Local merchants welcome kids for a haunting good time. Bracelets for trick or treating are $2 per child.
